Qlean
A cleaner without an app
Qlean is an office cleaning service. Clients order through the website, managers assign orders. But the cleaner — the person who does the work — had no tool at all.
All communication went through the call center: address, time, checklist, report — everything by phone. The call center was overloaded, cleaners worked blind.
The goal was to give the cleaner an app. Orders, timer, checklist, payments — all in one place. Reduce the call center load and give the worker autonomy.
Brief
Design a mobile app for an office cleaner. Three scenarios:
- Accept an order — see address, time, scope, manager contact
- Do the work — check off each item on the list, track time
- Get paid — see balance, payment history, daily breakdown
Constraints: the screen is always wet or used with gloves. Large touch targets. Minimal text. One finger.
The app
UX for wet hands
The cleaner works in gloves. The screen is often wet. One finger only — usually the thumb.
- Checklist — one tap. Tap to check off. No swipes, long presses, confirmations.
- Touch targets 48×48. WCAG minimum, but 56px is better for gloves.
- “Heading to the job” button starts the timer. One tap changes the state.
- Photos without a gallery. The camera opens right away. Take a shot — uploaded.
- Minimal text. Address, time, amount. Details on tap.
Process
- Research: interviews with cleaners, field visit — personally observed the cleaning and how they worked with the app in the field
- User flow: three scenarios — accept, perform, get paid
- Wireframes: paper, 12 checklist variations
- UI: Figma, 8 screens, 2 iterations
- Prototype: interactive Figma prototype for testing
Office cleaning landing page
In addition to the cleaner app, I designed the B2B landing page for office cleaning. Cost calculator, quality guarantees, insurance fund, regulations, cleaner training.
